The Voice of Point Cook Residents - We love Point Cook!

The Point Cook Action Group(PCAG) is pleased to announce the release of a new strategic plan designed to improve the lifestyle of residents in Point Cook and the wider Wyndham community. The strategic planning session was facilitated by Jodie Willmer  who did an outstanding job in assisting the PVAG committee with the development of the plan. The strategic plan identifies 4 major areas that were of concern – Transportation and traffic congestion, youth, community safety and community engagement. An important part of the plan is to engage and work with many established community groups in our community.
Since the AGM meeting in May the PCAG has already made an impact by preparing and presenting submissions on the draft council budget including proposals to reduce traffic congestion, to advocate for youth, to highlight public safety concerns and to improve community engagement. We also were involved in the organization of the “Lets Talk Safety” forum held on the 26 June to an audience of around 70 residents.
The new PCAG Strategic Plan has the objective of adding to the achievements of the previous PCAG committee who succeeded in successfully lobbying for the construction of the Pirate Ship, the Sneydes Road bridge, the Saltwater Reserve sporting facility and the Palmers Road extension.
Issues presented at the draft budget council forum include the need for the installation of lights at the intersection of Point Cook and Sneydes Road, the repair of Sneydes Road and the need for an additional swimming pool in Point Cook. Other presentations included a proposal by Susan McIntyre for a “Pop Up park in the Point Cook Town Centre” and one from Senthill Sundarum for an integrated engagement proposal.
Committee members in the newly elected PCAG include – Bob Fairclough(President), Liz Thompson(Treasurer), Christine MacPherson (Secretary), Roma Pedersen, Karthick Thanigaimani, Melinda Houghton, Dominic Cichello, Susan Mc Intyre, Sara Mitchell and Senthill Sundarum.
If you are interested in joining or supporting the PCAG committee please consider attending our regular meetings which are held every third Monday of the month at 7.00-9.00pm. Everyone is welcome.
